If anyone can take anything away from this book - it is my hope that it is inspiration - inspiration for others to share their stories and hopefully get some peace in their lives. After every beating my mother gave me - it was so important to me to find something positive to cling on to - something to convince me to wake up the next morning. It may sound cheesy and silly to some, but that's how I got through it - day after day.
I will never understand why my mother treated me so poorly and I feel I have wasted too much of my life trying in vain to understand. I will however, do everything in my power to help any child suffering as I suffered.
I pray for all of you suffering and I love you all. Thank you for sharing my life. I could have written this book myself because we had such similar childhoods. The important thing Is to read it come to terms with what happened and realize that there isn't anything you can do to change what happened but you can change how you behave when you have kids of your own. I now have 4 sons of my own that are grown and are great kids, we are a very close family and thankfully they never had to see or endure the things I did.
I would definitely recommend this book to anyone that has suffered abuse at the hands of a parent. And hopefully they will see that they to can overcome it. The world is a sick place for some children. For what it's worth, I am so very sorry.
